Blount Students Receive Honor
Mobile County District 1 Commissioner Merceria Ludgood recognized six Blount High School studentsfor their achievements with the DECA leadership and entrepreneurial organization.
Bendrea Sims, Latrice Campbell, Carltoria Wallace, Reggie Clarke, John Martin and Jaylon Gonzalez attended the International Career and Development Conference after competing at a statewide conference in February. They were among the more than 14,000 high school students representing 11 countries. Chapter advisers Terrie and Allen Merryman also made the trip for workshops. Sixty students participates in Blount’s DECA chapter.
“These kids are a testament to how well they have been prepared because of what they have learned in the Mobile County Public School System, and especially during their time at Blount High School,” Ludgood said.
“We are very proud of their accomplishments. These students represent our up-and-coming work force and we continue to try and attract business and industry so when they return home there will be jobs here for them.”
According to its website, “Deca prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.”
