MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
Thanks for visiting the City of Prichard online! Located in the southwest corner of Alabama (Mobile County), Prichard is a community of great pride with a rich and wonderful history encompassing a love of America's favorite pastime, baseball. The legendary baseball great Billy Williams was born in Prichard along with many other sports greats, to include, The Mohawks, which was recently inducted into the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame. In keeping with the city's historical significance, its unique proximity has earned recognition as The City of Champions and the Crossroads of Mobile County. Not only is Prichard a leader in producing great athletes, our location is ideal to enjoy many of the regional attractions, to include, signature shopping venues, great seafood eateries, and, of course, our nationally recognized natural resources - - the white sands of our Gulf Coast beaches. From Prichard, Alabama, these and many other forms of great entertainment and family fun are only minutes away.

While Prichard's ideal location, rich history, and family-friendly setting are among its noted attributes, the city is quickly emerging as a model for progressive community change. Since accepting office on October 1, 2004, four primary goals have remained the consistent message of this Administration: 1) to provide citizens a safer, cleaner city, 2) to restore integrity, 3) to ensure an honest and responsive city government, and 4) to deliver effective and efficient city services.

To date, Prichard is managing more than $5.9 Million in grant funding from county, state and federal agencies, aimed at improving the quality of life for its citizenry. Over the past year, Prichard completed its first ever Comprehensive Plan and is in the process of developing an implementation plan that will determine our city's future land use and drive the long-term changes we seek in our community. Additionally, Prichard is currently administering a Comprehensive Wastewater Management Study to establish a systemic approach to addressing a range of infrastructure issues competing with the city's increased growth patterns. More recreation for citizens of all ages is also a top priority, along with attracting more businesses to the area to increase our tax base.

Prichard is on the move! We invite you to catch the vision and become a part of the important changes and expansion the city is experiencing. As stated from the onset of this Administration, we are dedicated to "Achieving the Unachievable!"
