Prichard Police Department Recruit for Neighborhood Watch Groups

February 17, 2009

The Prichard Police Department is currently recruiting residents for its Neighborhood Watch Program.  Neighborhood Watch is a resident involvement program, where residents work with the Prichard Police Department and directly participate in the detection and prevention of crime.  It involves neighbors getting to know each other and working together in programs of mutual assistance to prevent crime.  Citizens are also trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.  This program has proven to be very successful in helping keep neighborhoods safe and secure.

The City of Prichard Neighborhood Watch Program has been in existence for five years and there are currently 10 active Watch Groups in the city.   These groups are located in the following neighborhoods:  Bear Fork Road, Chickasaw Terrace, College Woods, Fox Creek, Grover Street, Janie Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Reese’s Hill, Vestavia and Whitley.

Anyone who would like to join a current group or start a new group in their area, can contact Captain Dorothy Ferrell at (251) 581- 0555.
