Update City fleet and equipment readiness continues to be monitored. In Fire, Engine 67 was repaired and returned to service, while Engine 68 remains in the shop for brake repairs. Fire crews responded to 72 calls this week, showing continued operations despite equipment constraints.

Update Departments are continuing to review response capacity and staffing impacts. Fire reported an average response time of 8:53 this week, while Police reported an average response time of 10 minutes. Ongoing staffing shortages continue to affect service delivery and response improvement efforts.

Crime Trends Snapshot

Update Compiling recent incident activity and weekly call data to provide a clearer public safety snapshot for staff and residents. For the week of March 7 to March 13, the Police Department reported 329 calls answered, 12 false alarms, 30 close patrols, and 25 hang-up follow-throughs, along with one reported shooting incident in District 3.
Patrol Visibility / Hotspot Coverage

Update The department is continuing to review patrol visibility and hotspot coverage to better respond to community safety concerns.
Blight / Illegal Dumping Enforcement Support
Status In Progress
Update Public safety coordination remains active, with cross-department concerns identified at Mt. Sinai @ St. Stephens Rd. involving Code Enforcement, Public Services, Police, and the Health Department. This reflects continued attention to problem-property and neighborhood safety conditions. As part of our ongoing assessment, nearly 1,200 properties have been identified. To date, 235 properties have been remediated, and 25 of those have been scheduled for demolition.
Code Enforcement Coordination (Safety)

Update City departments are actively coordinating on safety-related code enforcement matters, including a concern at Mt. Sinai @ St. Stephens Rd. involving Code Enforcement, Public Services, Police, and the Health Department. Coordination is underway, but follow-through across departments is still needed.
Community Safety Meetings / Block Captains

Update Planning the first round of neighborhood meetings to connect directly with residents about public safety concerns. Block captains will play a key role in sharing information and helping identify issues at the neighborhood level. These conversations will help strengthen communication and build safer, more connected communities.
