Mayor Davis Highlights Proposed FY 2026–2027 Budget and Investments in City Employees
PRICHARD, AL — During this week’s City Council meeting, Mayor Carletta Davis highlighted the Administration’s proposed Fiscal Year 2026–2027 General Fund Budget, emphasizing investments in employees, public safety, and the City’s long-term stability.
The proposed budget has been submitted to the City Council for review and includes salary increases for Public Works employees, police officers, firefighters, and the City Clerk. According to Mayor Davis, the Administration is focused on making Prichard a stronger and more competitive employer while ensuring the City can attract and retain qualified professionals.
The City is also transitioning employees to a new health insurance plan through the Local Government Health Insurance Program. Under the new plan, the annual deductible is expected to decrease from approximately $2,500 to about $200. The Administration is also working to establish a retirement option for City employees, including the possibility of a 401(k) plan.
Mayor Davis thanked the Finance Department for its work in preparing the proposed budget and expressed optimism that the Administration and City Council can work together to move the budget forward.
